TWC, TEA, and THECB Invite Texas Students and Employers to Participate in the Texas Internship Challenge
(Austin, TX) – The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) along with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and The Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) are working together to encourage and challenge employers in Texas to offer paid internships to Texas students.
This effort has been dubbed the Texas Internship Challenge and provides a free website where employers can post internship opportunities and students can apply for them. The website may be accessed at www.TXInternshipChallenge.com.
The TWC has provided an FAQ handout (http://www.twc.state.tx.us/files/partners/texas-internship-challenge-faqs-twc.pdf) which explains the challenge, internships, and how students and employers may submit their information to be matched. Also available is a flyer detailing the overview of the challenge and the benefits of interning (http://www.twc.state.tx.us/files/news/internship_challenge_campaign_flyer_twc.pdf). Students and employers may use the social media hashtag, #TXINTERNS, to further the reach of this valuable resource.
"Internships provide young students first hand experiences into work fields they may be interested in pursuing. I highly encourage employers and students in House District 19 to work together and provide these mutually beneficial opportunities. The youth in our communities need positive engagement in our communities and in fostering their minds with the knowledge that drives our economic prosperity," said Rep. White.
