Representative John Frullo adds his YES vote to SB 4 in the Texas House

(Austin, TX) State Representative John Frullo added his YES vote to pass SB 4 in the Texas House of Representatives. After 17 hours of debate, SB 4 the bill to prohibit Texas cities from being "sanctuary cities" that do not enforce federal law related to illegal immigration, passed in the Texas House 93 to 54.

"After voting for this type of legislation numerous times since 2011 when I served on the House Committee on State Affairs, I'm glad we finally got this bill through the House and the Senate," said Rep. Frullo.

Governor Greg Abbott declared this to be an emergency item for the Legislature to address. The bill prohibits loca l entities from "adopting or enforcing" an ordinance or other measures that prohibit inquiries into the immigration status of a person lawfully detained.

The next step is for the bill to go to the Senate and once the differences between the House and the Senate are worked out, the bill can be sent to the Governor for his signature.
