State Rep. Victoria Neave Appointed to Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence and County Affairs Committees
(Austin, TX): State Representative Victoria Neave (HD-107) was appointed by Speaker Joe Straus to the House Committees on: 1) Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence and 2) County Affairs.
"I am very excited about my committee appointments and look forward to using my experience as a civil litigation attorney to advocate for consumers, women, and children and make critical decisions on legislation ranging from our court system and procedure to family laws to the standards in our county jails," said Representative Victoria Neave. "I am thankful to Speaker Joe Straus for his vote of confidence and for appointing me to committees where I can best serve our district and our state. Our team is working hard this session on issues that matter to working families, women, and our local communities."
The Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee hears legislation relating to Texas judges, civil and family laws, custody, child support, administrative law, and has jurisdiction over multiple state agencies related to our court system. The County Affairs Committee hears legislation relating to county governments, regional councils of governments, multi-county boards or commissions, contracts between counties, bail and pre-trial bonds in our criminal courts, and the Commission on Jail Standards.
Victoria Neave represents Texas House District 107, which includes parts of East Dallas, Mesquite, and Garland. As an attorney, she has represented a broad range of clients from multi-national corporations and small businesses to women and children in civil litigation, family, and employment law. Ms. Neave has been recognized in the legal community for her pro bono work, and was named by the Texas Bar Journal in 2013 as the Access to Justice Pro Bono Champion and the 2013 Lawyer of the Year by the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, a joint program of Legal Aid of Northwest Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.
