State Representative James White Asks VFD's and ESD's to Attend ISO Credit Briefing
Austin, TX - Representative White will host staff from the Insurance Service Office, Inc. (ISO), on July 14th, 2016, at the Jasper Emergency Operations Center (271 E. Lamar, Jasper, TX, 75951) from 7-9 p.m.
Many of our Southeast Texas volunteer fire departments (VFD's) expressed concern about receiving proper credit for older fire trucks that were in proper operating condition with low mileage. Earning proper credit signals to our fellow citizens that our volunteer fire departments are responsible stewards of taxpayer-funded resources and our Emergency Service District (ESD) boards are providing proper governance. Additionally, appropriate crediting may result in homeowner insurance savings for our citizens.
"Recently, my staff arranged a conference call with ISO staff members, the State Fire Marshal's Office, and stakeholders from ESD's and VFD's. We learned that at this time there is no age requirement for our trucks in order to obtain ISO credit. Credits and partial credits are awarded on a case by case basis depending on how well a truck performs during a pump test," said Rep. White. He continued, "I encourage all stakeholders to attend this informative meeting."
