TEXAS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO CONSIDER ADDITIONAL SCHOOL FUNDING REFORMS
Following the Texas Supreme Court's school finance decision, Speaker Joe Straus has asked the House Committee on Appropriations and the House Committee on Public Education to jointly study key aspects of the state’s school finance system and make recommendations before the next legislative session.
In response, Rep. Capriglione issued the following statement: "As a member of the Committee on Appropriations, I look forward to studying the issues, especially recommending ways to reduce Texas' reliance on recapture ("Robin Hood") payments. I echo the belief in keeping local tax dollars in local districts, while also making our school finance system more efficient as a whole.
"I look forward to being a part of the conversation and will work hard to ensure a solution comes out of the 85th Legislative Session."
