McAllen, Hidalgo, and Pharr Receive Recreation Grant Funding with Help from Rep. Muñoz
Mission - Several cities in District 36 are set to receive grant funding for local recreation parks. Texas Parks and Wildlife held a Commission Meeting earlier this morning to approve $500,000 for the Villa Garza Flores/Valle Alto Parks at the City of Hidalgo, $250,000 for the Nature Park at the City of Pharr, and $250,000 for the Veterans War Memorial of Texas at the City of McAllen.
“The approved funding will promote healthy communities in our area,” said Muñoz to Texas Parks and Wildlife. “I am always happy to secure funding for our region and look forward to seeing the impact that these parks have in our district.”
As Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees the funding for our local and state parks, Representative Muñoz is looking forward to the next legislative session where he will continue to secure additional funding to build on the tremendous growth taking place in our community. The upcoming legislative session begins on January 2017.
Rep. Sergio Muñoz, Jr. has served in the Texas Legislature since 2011 and represents all or parts of the cities of Hidalgo, Granjeno, McAllen, Mission, Palmview, and Pharr.
