Rep. Shaheen joins members of the Collin County Delegation in support of critical North Texas water reservoir project
PLANO, Texas—Advocating for vital water infrastructure in our growing region, State Representative Matt Shaheen joined several members of the Collin County Delegation of the Texas Legislature in a joint statement urging the immediate permitting and construction of the Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir project. The letter, to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers--the lead federal agency overseeing the project, asks Southwestern Division Commander, Brigadier General David Hill to "… do all within your power to assist us in affirmatively addressing the requirements related to this Reservoir." Speaking to constituents, Representative Shaheen was clear, "We cannot tolerate delays in delivering water to our rapidly growing region. I urge the Army Corps of Engineers to act swiftly and diligently on our behalf. I am committed to ensuring North Texas will have adequate water infrastructure for our future." The permitting and construction of the proposed Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir project, originally scheduled to take place this year, has been stalled due to the imposition of new assessments by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Representative Matt Shaheen resides in Plano, Texas and serves the citizens of District 66, which encompasses west Plano and far north Dallas, in the Texas House of Representatives. Previously, Representative Shaheen served five years as County Commissioner for Precinct 1 of Collin County.
