Representative Shaheen announces application for Texas Armed Services Scholarship
PLANO, Texas—Honoring service in our Nation's Armed Forces, State Representative Matt Shaheen announces that he is accepting applications for the Texas Armed Services Scholarship Program. The program, created by the Texas Legislature to encourage military service through Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) programs at Texas colleges is open to Texas high school students who meet a high level of academic achievement. Currently, the program can only appoint 185 students from across the Lone Star State--nominated by members of the legislature and certain statewide elected officials. Speaking to students, Representative Shaheen said, "I look forward to reviewing applications from our district. I know it will be very competitive." Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Representative Matt Shaheen resides in Plano, Texas and serves the citizens of District 66, which encompasses west Plano and far north Dallas, in the Texas House of Representatives. Previously, Representative Shaheen served five years as County Commissioner for Precinct 1 of Collin County.
