Texas Water Development Board Approves Funding For Montana Vista Wastewater Services
Austin, TX --Today, the Texas Water Development Board has approved a request from the El Paso Utilities Public Service Board for a grant in the amount of $2,800,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to finance planning and design costs for a project that will provide first time wastewater service to the Montana Vista area.
"I am extremely pleased with the result of the Texas Water Development Board vote," said Gonzalez. "My office has been engaged with this project since I was elected in 2012, and some considered it a lost cause. Further, this is easily the biggest step forward that this project has taken since its inception nearly 10 years ago. Through the hard work and dedication of the stake holders, community leaders, as well as my district staff, we were able to resurrect this initiative to bring wastewater services to Montana Vista, despite the fact that this effort had been dormant for a significant amount of time. This item has absolutely been a top priority of mine since I took office, and I am thrilled that we have taken a substantial leap forward. With the TWDB's vote, we are one step closer to changing the lives of hundreds of families in our community by providing them with services that many in Texas take for granted."
