Veterans Land Board Establishes Disaster Relief Initiative
Austin, TX - Representative James White commends the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) for establishing a Disaster Relief Initiative to address the needs of Veterans and military member homeowners who have been affected by the recent Memorial Day weekend floods. Up to 121 counties have been declared disaster areas and the VLB seeks to provide funding to affected Veterans who apply.
Two different components of the Disaster Relief Initiative have gone into effect; Component 1, which addresses Veterans who need assistance purchasing new housing, and Component 2, which addresses Veterans who need assistance in repairing their housing. Information on eligibility for both components is attached but can also be accessed by calling 1-800-252-VETS (8387) or contacting the VLB at www.TexasVeterans.com. The deadline to apply for the initiative is July 22, 2016.
"I encourage Veterans who have been affected by the recent disaster to apply for the assistance provided by the VLB. I am grateful for the VLB's initiative and commitment to aid our Veterans and military members," said Rep. White.
