Governor Abbott Signs Legislation Designating Jasper as the Butterfly Capital of Texas

Austin, TX - State Representative James White is honored to have Governor Greg Abbott sign House Concurrent Resolution 69 which designates Jasper, Texas, as the Butterfly Capital of Texas. Rep. White was asked to carry this legislation by Brent Meaux along with the support of other Jasper natives.

Jasper, Texas is home to one of three major flyways of the monarch butterfly and is a proud host of the annual butterfly festival which celebrates the migration of these magnificent insects. The City of Jasper is also home to the Butterfly House in the Butterfly Gardens at the Jasper Arboretum. Visitors to the Butterfly House learn about the migration and life cycle of these spectacular butterflies. These visitors add to Jasper's local economic prosperity.

"I am proud to represent the citizens of Jasper who have devoted countless hours to fostering the understanding of the monarch butterflies and making their stay the most hospitable. I am grateful to Governor Greg Abbott for his support of this legislation recognizing Jasper as the Butterfly Capital of Texas," said Rep. White.
