Giddings Honors Six "Profiles in Leadership"
Austin - Today Representative Helen Giddings (Dallas) honored six Dallas-area citizens for their dedicated service to an array of community organizations. All have served in important volunteer positions requiring significant personal sacrifice.
"I refer to them as 'Profiles in Leadership,'" said Giddings. "They all share the value of giving, for the sake of a better community, with no expectation of financial reward or public acclaim."
The honorees included; Ms. Regina Montoya, Dr. Charles Ku, Mr. Jim Washington, Mr. Pete Schenkel, Mr. Richard Knight and Mr. Tom Dunning. Their work covers an array of contributions to community service, including; the Mayor's Task Force on Poverty, the Statewide Health Coordinating Council, the University of North Texas Board of Regents, the Citizens Charter Review Committee and the Methodist Health System Board of Directors.
Official resolutions of the Texas House of Representatives were adopted and presented to each of the honorees. They were also introduced to the members of the Texas Senate earlier this morning.
"They don't expect a "Thank-you" or an award," said Giddings, as she addressed her colleagues before the House chamber, "but today I'm asking you to share in acknowledgement and thanks, as we present them with resolutions which declare them our "2015 Profiles in Leadership."
Representative Helen Giddings (District 109) serves the cities of Dallas, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Glenn Heights Hutchins, Lancaster, Wilmer as well as part of Duncanville.
