Representative DeWayne Burns Named to Open Carry Bill Conference Committee
AUSTIN, TEXAS - This evening the Texas House of Representatives named Representative DeWayne Burns to the conference committee for House Bill 910, the legislation authorizing a licensed person to openly carry a holstered handgun.
House Bill 910, co-authored by Representative Burns, initially passed the House on April 20th by a vote of 101 to 42, and then passed the Senate on May 22nd with a vote of 19 to 12. With less than a week to go before the end of the regular legislative session, a conference committee was appointed to resolve the differences between the House and Senate versions. A member of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, Burns said, "I'm honored to have been selected to serve as one of the conferees for House Bill 910. As a co-author of the bill, I'm committed to our Second Amendment rights and am dedicated to working with the other conferees to bring forward an open carry bill that's good for Texas."
