RAINWATER HARVESTING BILL BY REP. LUCIO PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE
AUSTIN -- House Bill 3837, authored by Rep. Lucio, sets up a professional licensing procedure for rainwater harvesting system installers, and was passed out of the Natural Resources Committee today. The bill will now be sent to the Calendars Committee. This bill will allow Texas to explore other water sources.
"A big focus of mine this session has been filing legislation that allows us, as Texans, to explore all of our viable water sources," Rep. Lucio said. "HB 3837 will allow us to explore that by opening the door for more people to feel secure in installing rainwater harvesting systems in their homes."
Rep. Lucio has been working with the Texas Rainwater Catchment Association on this bill. If passed, this licensing program would be the first of its kind in the nation.
"Texas has long been a state that sets the precedent for the rest of the country," Rep. Lucio said. "With HB 3837, we can continue this legacy and help secure the future of Texas water."
This bill is supported by the national rainwater harvesting system, the American Rainwater Catchment Association.
