Rep. White Promotes Child Abuse Prevention and Proper Child Discipline
Austin, TX - April marks National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time designated to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. It is crucial that we as Texans promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families across the State.
Child abuse is something all Texans must strive to prevent. Parents must take the first steps in knowing how to discipline their children without the use of any measures that cause emotional or physical abuse. Sometimes, these acts by caregivers hurt children when punishments go too far, and it is up to parents to give age appropriate punishments while promoting a healthy family relationship.
State Representative James White urges parental discretion while taking disciplinary measures. "It is always good policy to take a few minutes to calm down and assess the situation before disciplining a child. Parents are and always will be the first role models for our youth and it is important that we promote good discipline in order to properly raise the children of this great State." said Rep. White.
