Rep. Rinaldi Files Second of Two Bills to Fight Robin Hood
AUSTIN, TEXAS – On Friday, Rep. Rinaldi filed HB 1411, the Robin Hood Relief Act. HB 1411 is the second of two bills Rep. Rinaldi has filed this session that would eliminate or minimize the effects of Robin Hood on Texas public school districts
The Robin Hood Relief Act (HB 1411) would reduce the percentage of local tax dollars subject to Robin Hood recapture as a district’s property tax valuation increases. HB 945 would repeal Robin Hood altogether and end recapture of any of the state’s school districts’ local tax base.
“Robin Hood is the number one problem with public education in Texas,” Rinaldi said. “In filing both of these important pieces of legislation, I am fulfilling a campaign promise to do everything I can to restore local control over our property tax revenue and put a stop to the State’s failed redistribution scheme.”
Representative Matt Rinaldi is from Irving and represents northwest Dallas County.
