REPRESENTATIVE TONY DALE’S STATEMENT ON TXTAG ISSUES AND TXDOT’S DECISION TO ISSUE CUSTOMER REFUNDS
Representative Tony Dale issued the following statement:
I commend the Texas Department of Transportation’s decision to issue customer refunds and waive fees related to the recent TxTAG billing problems. I very much look forward to learning more details on how they will accomplish this important action.
The refunds are a positive first step toward addressing the issues plaguing the TxTAG system. While TXDOT’s refunds are important, I also urge the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (183A and 290 Manor Expressway) to identify customers that may have been unintentionally billed at the more costly non-TxTAG rate and who also had violations assessed. These customers deserve similar relief.
Furthermore, TXDOT needs to continue to evaluate the Xerox contract related to TxTAG and ensure that the performance standards in the contract are being met. If they are not being met, then TXDOT must hold Xerox accountable for their performance.
