Rep. César J. Blanco Named to Committees on Public Health, Defense and Veterans, House Rules
Austin, TX: State Representative César J. Blanco (HD-76) was appointed to serve on three committees: the House Committees on Public Health, Defense & Veterans Affairs, and Rules and Resolutions.
"I am humbled to have the opportunity to represent our Veterans and the City of El Paso on these important committees," said Representative Blanco. "The work of the Public Health Committee will play a pivotal role in increasing access to health care for our families and in growing our economy. "

El Paso's Fort Bliss is the largest military training facility in the country. House District 76 encompasses parts of Fort Bliss, the Paul Foster School of Medicine, the El Paso Children's Hospital, the University Medical Center, the Del Sol Medical Center, the Medical Center of the Americas, and numerous health centers.
The Public Health Committee is charged with protecting public health and has jurisdiction on all matters pertaining to mental health, the supervision of the control of the practice of medicine, oversight of the Health and Human Services Commission, the Department of State Health Services, and other state agencies.
The Defense and Veterans' Affairs committee has jurisdiction over the relations between the State of Texas and the federal government involving defense, the realignment or closure of military bases, emergency preparedness, and other veterans issues.
The House and Resolutions Committee helps determine the priorities and proposal of rules for floor consideration of certain bills.
