Representative Shaheen appointed to committees
AUSTIN, TX—Beginning his term of service to the People of House District 66, State
Representative Matt Shaheen (Collin County) was appointed to the Committee on Criminal
Jurisprudence and the Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs. The Committee on Criminal
Jurisprudence will be charged with handling criminal law, penalties, and procedures. The Committee
on Defense & Veterans' Affairs will be tasked with emergency preparedness, federal relations in
matters of defense, and the Texas Military Forces. Representative Shaheen said, "I am fortunate to
serve Collin County in my capacity as a legislator and will do so to the best of my ability on each of
my committees." Both committees are expected to begin weekly meetings to consider legislation
later this month.
Representative Matt Shaheen resides in Plano, Texas and serves the citizens of District 66,
which encompasses west Plano and far north Dallas, in the Texas House of
Representatives. Previously, Representative Shaheen served for five years as a County
Commissioner for Precinct 1 of Collin County.
