State Representative Eddie Rodriguez Applauds President's Executive Action on Immigration; Urges Congress to Act
AUSTIN -- State Representative Eddie Rodriguez (Travis County) issued the following statement on President Obama's executive orders regarding deportation relief for certain undocumented immigrants:
"I am encouraged that President Obama finally took executive action on immigration reform yesterday. With a stalemate in Congress, I commend the President’s long-overdue leadership and initiative on this issue. Our undocumented families, friends and neighbors should not be living in the shadows of society as they contribute to our economy, pay taxes and raise families."
"I did not expect the President to do everything last night. He simply can’t do it alone. It is time for our congressional leaders to step up and act, and it is upon us to demand it."
Eddie Rodriguez was recently elected to a seventh term representing part of Travis County in the Texas House of Representative. He serves as vice chair of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus.
