House Representative

Dale, Tony

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 08/28/2014

State Representative Tony Dale’s statement on the school finance ruling

“Today a Travis County Judge ruled on the school finance case which started in October 2012 prior to my election to the legislature. It is sure to be appealed to the Texas Supreme Court. I urge the judicial branch to address this case in a timely manner so that the legislature has guidance.”

Dale continued, “As a parent of two public school students, and a business owner, I understand the power of education to lift people out of poverty and to achieve long-term financial security and prosperity. I am proud to have voted to increase public education funding by over $4 billion in the last session; a 7.1% increase. Education remains the number one budget item in Texas at $74.1 billion appropriated for the 2014-2015 budget. There is still more to do. Throwing money at the system is not the only answer. We must ensure that our tax dollars are focused on classroom teachers and students, not on an expansive education bureaucracy.”

State Representative Tony Dale serves on the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, the Energy Resources Committee and the House Select Committee on Child Protection. He is a small business owner and veteran of the U.S. Army who previously served on the Cedar Park City Council. He represents House District 136 in western Williamson County, including the communities of Cedar Park, Leander and Brushy Creek, as well as parts of north Austin and Round Rock.
