REP MUÑOZ TO RECOGNIZE THE 2014 EXEMPLARY MIGRANT STUDENTS
MISSION, TX – State Representative Sergio Muñoz, Jr. will recognize the 2014 Exemplary Migrant Students from District 36 during a ceremony at his District Office located at 121 E. Tom Landry in Mission, TX, Friday May 23rd at 6:00 p.m. The media is invited.
The students completed a program from the University of Texas at Austin's Migrant Student Graduation Enhancement Program.
"We are exceptionally proud of these students for their tenacity and dedication to overcome obstacles and excel in their academic endeavors," said Muñoz. "Many of the students in the program represent the first high school graduates in their families and many go on to become college graduates."
The students along with their families and representatives from their school districts will be attending the ceremony.
Background: The Migrant Education Enhancement Program, originated in 1987, helps Texas migrant students graduate from high school by providing them with opportunities to earn credit through distance learning tools, services, and courses. The Migrant Student Program has helped approximately 26,000 migrant students.
