Application Period Open for Rep. Pat Fallon Youth Leadership Programs
Local high school students may apply for Leadership Council, Internships
Little Elm, TX – State Representative Pat Fallon (Frisco) recently released the application for the House District 106 Internship Program and Legislative Leadership Council. These youth initiatives give local high school students an opportunity for engagement in the political process and a first-hand look at the daily functions of a legislative office.
“Denton County is home to some of the best and brightest young minds in the state,” said Fallon. “Meeting with these students is one of the highlights of my job, and their contributions to our team are invaluable.”
District Interns assist with constituent services and community outreach at Representative Fallon’s local office in Little Elm City Hall (100 W. Eldorado Parkway). They also have the opportunity to attend various events around the county, spearhead community service initiatives, and visit the State Capitol in Austin during the 84th Legislative Session for a behind-the-scenes look at lawmaking.
Young people selected for the Legislative Leadership Council meet with Representative Fallon and special guest speakers on a quarterly basis to discuss current events and learn about the roles of federal, state, and local government. This program is designed as an open forum for council members to dialogue with public servants who are true leaders in their fields.
Students interested in one or both of these programs should contact Fallon’s district office at District106.Fallon@house.state.tx.us or (469) 362-0500 and be prepared to complete an application which includes an essay and letters of recommendation. The application period for the 2014-2015 school year closes on Friday, April 18.
State Representative Pat Fallon represents Texas House District 106 in Denton County.
