Helen Giddings Hosts an ACA Community Education and Enrollment Event at UNT-Dallas
State Representative Helen Giddings (Dallas), is hosting an "ACA Community Education and Enrollment" event on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at UNT-Dallas. This event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend, learn more about the Affordable Care Act, ask questions to qualified healthcare enrollment assistors, and representatives from the Health and Human Services Commission.
Giddings explained "Many citizens continue to have questions regarding the Affordable Care Act. This is an opportunity to clear up any confusion or misconceptions." She continued, "the March 31, 2014 deadline is upon us and there are possible penalties for persons who have not enrolled. Navigators will be on-site at this event and prepared to help those who attend."
The organizations that will be present at the event are: The Community Council of Greater Dallas, Texas Organizing Project, and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). Each of these organizations will be able to provide information, guidance, and assistance through the application and enrollment process for the ACA healthcare options, including CHIP and Medicaid.
For citizens looking to enroll at this event, Giddings and the organizations in attendance recommend that you bring the following information to effectively apply or enroll for healthcare coverage:
- Copy of birth certificate for each person applying (CHIP)
- Copy of Social Security Card for each person applying
- Non-U.S. Citizen Registration Card (I-551) or a copy of the front and back of the card if the applicant is not a U.S. Citizen
- Proof of each family member's income - this includes: recent paycheck stub, tax return, or employer letter stating earnings.
The event will be held at Dallas Hall/Building 1 at UNT-Dallas, located at 7300 University Hills Boulevard (formerly known as Houston School Road), Dallas, Texas 75241.
