State Representative Toni Rose Nominated for Emerging Leaders Program by Speaker of the House
Austin-- Texas House of Representatives Speaker Joe Straus has nominated Representative Toni Rose (District 110) to the State Legislative Leaders Foundation’s (SLLF) Emerging Leaders Program. This annual event is held at University of Virginia’s prestigious Darden Graduate School of Business.
Nominees from 50 states will meet to study and discuss concepts in political leadership from both local and global perspectives. Criteria for the selection of candidates include long-term commitment to public service. The potential of Representative Rose to attain greater political responsibility has been recognized by Speaker Straus, "I am pleased to nominate Representative Rose for this prestigious program. In just one session, Representative Rose has proven to be a passionate advocate for her constituents and rising leader in the Texas House."
Presiding officers of SLLF will announce the 2014 Class in April and Rose is eager to represent Texas, "The Emerging Leaders Program is an excellent opportunity for new legislators to gain political perspectives from our nation's most promising leaders -- I am honored that the Speaker has nominated me to be a participant."
Elected in 2012, Representative Rose represents District 110; which covers parts of Dallas, Balch Springs and Mesquite. During the 83rd Legislative Session, Representative Rose was able to work on both sides of the aisle to get key bills passed in the matters of local homeland security, mental health and education.
