REPRESENTATIVE ERIC JOHNSON TO HIGHLIGHT THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF TEXAS STUDENTS WITH FIRST EVER TEXAS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP DAY
DALLAS, TX – During the 83rd session of the Texas Legislature, State Representative Eric Johnson (Dallas) authored legislation to highlight the academic achievements of Texas high school seniors. House Concurrent Resolution 40 (HCR 40) calls on the state’s high schools to celebrate “Texas Academic College Scholarship Day” on the first Saturday in May.
"Like most Texans, I am a big football fan, but it’s the achievements our young people make off the field that will shape Texas for years to come," said Representative Johnson. "This year on May 3rd, and for the next ten years thereafter, our state will recognize our academic all-stars for the outstanding Texans that they are. The future of Texas is in their hands and it’s time that they get the recognition they deserve," concluded Johnson.
HCR 40 was unanimously passed by both the Texas House and the Texas Senate during the 83rd Regular Session of the Legislature. The text of the legislation can be found at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/83R/billtext/pdf/HC00040I.pdf#navpanes=0.
