Giddings Announces TLBC Scholarship Recipients
Representative Helen Giddings (Dallas) is proud to announce the winners of 2013 scholarship awards presented by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus (TLBC). Four students from District 109 will be awarded a total of $8,500 at the TLBC Scholarship Banquet in Austin.
The 2013 scholarship recipients for District 109 are: Xochilyn Arielle Davis, Ogechi Maxine Irondi, Jharen K. Rosborough, and Mark David Waters, Jr. More than 50 scholarships will be awarded statewide to deserving high school seniors who successfully completed the application process and met all requirements. Giddings said, "The students receiving these scholarships achieved very high academically with the combination of hard work and dedication. We are pleased to contribute to their education in hopes that it will help create a promising future for this talented group of young students.”
This Scholarship Banquet is going to be a major highlight of the TLBC's African American Legislative Summit where the recipients will be formally recognized for their outstanding achievement. This event will take place on Monday, Feb. 25th from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm in the Governor’s Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel located at 500 E. 4th Street, Austin TX 78701. Kasim Reed, Mayor of Atlanta, GA will be the keynote speaker for the evening.
