HOUSTON, TX -- Today, State Representative Dwayne Bohac (Houston) was named “Local Quality of Life Champion” by the Houston West Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented to Bohac for his tireless efforts to reduce local flooding, create open recreational spaces, improve local roadways, and strengthen public safety.
"As a lifelong resident of West/Northwest Harris County, improving our local quality of life has always been my top priority," Rep. Bohac said. "I have worked closely with local elected officials, community leaders and citizen stakeholders on projects like the new Briar Branch Detention Basin to alleviate flooding, and roadway and intersection redesign throughout Spring Branch to increase mobility. During the past Legislative Session, I joint authored HB 1127 to crack down on illegal game rooms and reduce crime, as well as HB 200 that will encourage the expanded use of major electric utility easements for public hike and bike trails."
The Houston West Chamber of Commerce is the premier business organization in West Houston. The HWCOC abides by its mission statement, "In Business. For Business." There are currently 650 members representing 45,000 employees. The HWCOC focuses on promoting economic growth and a superior quality of life in the West Houston communities.
"I am honored to receive this recognition from the hardworking members of the Houston West Chamber of Commerce," said Rep. Bohac. "These business owners are the boots on the ground when it comes to improving our local economy and providing jobs in our community. We share a common commitment to providing an unparalleled Local Quality of Life for West Houston that will help ensure safer neighborhoods, maintain property values, attract new business and commerce, and continue the redevelopment efforts in and around our community."
