REP. SPRINGER HONORS JACK HIGHTOWER AS HOUSE ADJOURNS SESSION
AUSTIN, TX – As the legislature adjourned the third Special Session to a close, Rep. Drew Springer moved that the Texas House do so in memory of former Supreme Court Justice Jack Hightower.
Hightower had an expansive career in Texas politics, serving in the Texas House and Senate, as well as a member of Congress before winning a seat on the state’s Supreme Court in 1988.
Hightower was born in Memphis, Texas in 1926, upon graduating law-school, Hightower returned to the region and started a law practice in Vernon, Texas.
“Justice Hightower not only started his career in House District 68, but he was born here as well,” said Springer. “It was an honor to recognize such an important figure for his contributions to our region and state.”
