REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON PARTNERS WITH TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY AND DALLAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR COLLEGE RECRUITMENT RALLY
Dallas, TX - Representative Eric Johnson (Dallas), in coordination with Texas A&M University and the Dallas Independent School District (ISD), hosted a college recruitment rally for students attending high school in District 100. The rally took place today at the Ellis Davis Field House.
“I was excited to have an opportunity to work with Representative Johnson, who is as passionate as I am about making sure all young Texans have a chance at a great college education,” said Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp.
Approximately 400 students, all juniors in the top 15 percent of their class, attended the event. The students were given information concerning the application process, financial aid, and what to expect if they choose to attend Texas A&M University. It included comments from Representative Johnson, Chancellor Sharp, and admissions counselors, as well as current and former students. Attendees were also given the opportunity to sign up for a fall visit to Texas A&M University, where they will get to experience student life firsthand.
“Talk about a perfect match. These students are some of the best and brightest in the Dallas ISD, while Texas A&M is one of the best universities in the country; connecting these two groups is a win-win for our state," said Representative Johnson. “I want to thank Chancellor Sharp for his commitment to diversity and the willingness of the Texas A&M System to travel to Dallas to speak directly to our kids,” said Johnson.
Eric Johnson represents District 100, which includes parts of Dallas and Mesquite, in the Texas House of Representatives.
