Price Appointed to House Select Committee on Redistricting
Austin, TX --- Today, Speaker Joe Straus appointed State Representative Four Price and other members to the House Select Committee on Redistricting. The announcement comes after Governor Rick Perry issued a proclamation calling the Texas Legislature back for a special session to review and approve certain redistricting plans.
Specifically, the proclamation asks the Texas Legislature to consider legislation which ratifies and adopts the interim redistricting plans ordered by a federal district court for the election of members of the Texas House of Representatives, Texas Senate and United States House of Representatives.
Representative Price is the only member of the Panhandle delegation named to the Select Committee.
"The Select Committee on Redistricting has an important task ahead. I am honored to be a part of this process and provide a voice not only for Texas but also for the entire Panhandle,” Price said.
The Select Committee will hold public hearings on redistricting at the Texas Capitol at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 31 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. The hearings will take place in the Capitol Auditorium, Room E1.004. The public is invited to attend and provide testimony during the hearing process.
