"Coming off the Memorial Day holiday, this special event is to highlight and celebrate everything that Fort Bend County area armed service members have given in defense of all that is special about this country. As a 30 year Navy veteran myself and member of the Texas House Committee on Defense and Veterans Affairs, I am humbled and honored to participate in this wonderful day to honor our area armed service heroes", Miller stated.

The pre-game event will also feature US Congressman Pete Olsen, Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert, Sugar Land Mayor Jimmy Thompson, service members of the Air National Guard, members of local Boy Scout Troop 992, members of the Clements and Travis High School ROTC and members of the George Ranch High School band. The Exchange Club of Fort Bend, Exchange Club of Sugar Land, Exchange Club of Rosenberg, Quail Valley Exchange, Richmond Rotary, 59 Sunrise Rotary, Oyster Creek Rotary and Sugar Land Rotary will all also be supporting the event by purchasing the tickets for several hundred area service members in the stands for the event and game tonight.

The ceremony, which will start at 6:00 pm will be followed by the 7:00 pm game featuring the Skeeters and the Blue Crabs. Representative Miller, who also served as a pitcher for the 1968 US Olympic baseball team in Mexico City, will throw out the official ceremonial first pitch to start the ball game.

"It is truly a unique honor to represent House District 26 in the Texas Legislature. I will always continue to hold our nation's veterans in a very special place in my heart.”
