GOVERNOR PERRY SIGNS HCR 104 BY STATE REPRESENTATIVE ANGIE CHEN BUTTON INTO LAW
(AUSTIN, TX) - Yesterday, HCR 104 was signed into law by Governor Rick Perry. HCR 104, filed by State Representative Angie Chen Button, encourages school districts to adopt policies that promote the use of technology in classrooms.
"Technology is becoming increasingly vital in today's world. In working with schools in my district, I have witnessed how the incorporation of technology in education, such as Richardson ISD's "Bring Your Own Device" program, has personalized and enhanced student's learning," said Button, who currently serves as the Vice-Chairwoman of the House Committee on Technology.
A large percentage of students access information through their personal smartphones and tablet computers in their daily lives, but are rarely allowed to use them in the classroom. HCR 104 seeks to remedy this situation so that students are more prepared to become part of a modern day workforce.
Currently serving her third term in the Texas House of Representatives, Representative Angie Chen Button serves portions of Richardson, Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, and Dallas in Dallas County.
