REP. RICK MILLER HONORS THOSE FALLEN WITH THE PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 3077
Austin—Today the Texas House of Representatives passed House Bill 3077 which will pay tribute and honor our fallen heroes and their families. This very important bill will have the Honor and Remember flag flown on seven days as well as upon the death of a Texas military casualty.
“It was my honor as a veteran myself, to ask the state of Texas to publically display this flag as a symbol of appreciation to those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to pay tribute to their families who they left behind” said Representative Miller. “The Honor and Remember flag’s design is distinctive, yet simple. Each detail on the flag symbolizes an important part of the sacrifice of those who have died.”
"As a thirty year Naval veteran, this bill is very close and personal to me,” said Miller. Miller continued, "I've lost many close, personal friends over the years who died defending the honor and freedom we all enjoy. The Honor and Remember flag helps us to remember each of those men and women, those Texans, who have died for our county. It's a national effort and we want to make sure Texas is leading the way."
HB 3077 is now on its way to the Senate where Senator Juan ‘Chuy” Hinojosa, will be sponsoring this important legislation. “Senator Hinojosa understands the importance of this bill and how this flag will be a symbol of unwavering support and commitment to those American men and women who courageously gave their lives in selfless service to our county” said Representative Miller.
Representative Miller is currently serving his first term as the State Representative for District 26. Miller is a member of the Defense and Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Elections Committee in the Texas House of Representatives.
