Rep. Donna Howard Applauds Increased Education Funding
AUSTIN - Following today's vote by the House Appropriations Committee on the Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 1, the Appropriations Bill, Representative Donna Howard released the following statement:
"I was pleased to join my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee to unanimously approve a budget that contains an additional $2.5 billion for public education on top of a base budget that already accounts for student population growth.
In Travis County, this will mean increased dollars in per student funding as well as more of our local tax dollars staying in our community.
I look forward to finalizing our work on HB 1025, the supplemental bill for the current biennium, which is anticipated to include an additional $500 million in education funding for this school year.
This is a strong signal of the House's commitment to ensuring that public education is our number one priority, and I will continue to advocate for additional resources for our schools."
