State Representative Ed Thompson Appointed to the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and House Committee on Special Purpose Districts
AUSTIN – Today, Speaker of the House Joe Straus (San Antonio) announced committee assignments for the 83rd Session of the Texas House of Representatives, appointing State Representative Ed Thompson to the House Committee on Environmental Regulation and House Committee on Special Purpose Districts.
"Environmental Regulation is crucial to the state's economy, and I'm eager to have a place at the table to fight back against the war the Obama Administration is waging against Texas," Thompson stated.
The Environmental Regulation Committee Chairman is Rep. Patricia Harless (District 126 - Spring). This committee has oversight of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and issues relating to pollution and waste disposal.
Thompson continued, "The newly created Special Purpose Districts committee is especially important to District 29 because we'll have input on the many special districts being formed in the area."
The Special Purpose Districts will be chaired by Rep. Dennis Bonnen (District 25 - Angleton). This committee has jurisdiction over the creation of local authorities such as crime control and prevention districts, library districts, and public improvement districts.
"I am looking forward to serving on these two great committees this session, working with my colleagues to ensure that Texas remains a great place to live and to do business."
