REP. PADDIE APPOINTED TO HOUSE COMMITTEES ON ENERGY AND LAND AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
AUSTIN -- State Representative Chris Paddie (Marshall) has been appointed to the Texas House Committees on Energy Resources and Land and Resource Management.
"I am excited to be serving on the Energy Resources and Land and Resource Management committees. These committees are involved with issues that are very important to East Texans and to our entire state," said Rep. Paddie. "Now that we have our committee assignments, I am looking forward to getting to work and tackling the pressing issues facing our state."
The Energy Resources committee has jurisdiction over the conservation of the energy resources of Texas; the production, regulation, transportation, and development of oil, gas, and other energy resources; the leasing and regulation of mineral rights under public lands; mining; developing and using alternative energy sources; and increasing energy efficiency throughout the state. The committee also oversees the Railroad Commission, the Texas Energy Coordination Council and the State Energy Conservation Office.
The Land and Resource Management committee has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to the management of public lands; the power of eminent domain; and annexation, zoning, and other governmental regulation of land use. The committee also oversees the School Land Board and the General Land Office.
"Energy is an essential issue for East Texas and is one of the biggest economic drivers in our community. I am looking forward to working on the Energy Resources committee and continuing our trend in Texas of responsible energy production. I am also looking forward to ensuring that our state-owned resources are being utilized in the most prudent fashion on the Land and Resource Management committee. Both of these committees are doing vital work in Texas and I am proud to be a member of both," said Rep. Paddie.
