Committee Assignments Announced, Frullo Receives Key Appointments

Representative named to Calendars, State Affairs, Pensions, Administration

AUSTIN-- The Capitol is abuzz today as committee assignments for the 83rd Legislative Session were handed out by the Speaker, and State Representative John Frullo (Lubbock) couldn't be more pleased.

Serving in his second legislative session, Frullo was tapped to continue his service on the powerful House Committee on State Affairs and gained another powerful position as a member of the House Committee on Calendars. Frullo will also be serving on the House Committee on Pensions and the House Committee on Administration.

"Once again, I am honored and humbled by the faith placed in me by Speaker Straus," Frullo said. "In this session, we are charged with making decisions that will affect the citizens of Texas for years to come. The work done by the committees is integral to the policy-making process, and I look forward to continuing that work for the people of District 84 and the state of Texas."

Frullo's appointment to the House Committee on Calendars marks another powerful and coveted position given to him by the Speaker. This committee determines the priorities and rules for the consideration of bills and schedules bills to be heard on the House Floor.

"The Speaker has put a great deal of trust in me and my abilities," Frullo said of his assignments. "I think this is a great start to the session, and I'm excited about these opportunities."

Representative Frullo will also serve his second term as a member of the prestigious House Committee on State Affairs. Members of this committee are charged with addressing electric utility regulation, energy consumption and other major state policy issues.

The House Committee on Pensions and the House Committee on Administration round out the list of key appointments given to Frullo. The committee on pensions has jurisdiction over issues related to public retirement systems in the state of Texas.
