REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON APPOINTED VICE CHAIR OF HOUSE COMMITTEES ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND GENERAL INVESTIGATING & ETHICS
AUSTIN, TX - State Representative Eric Johnson (Dallas) was appointed today as the Vice Chair of two different House Committees: the Natural Resources Committee and the General Investigating & Ethics Committee.
"Water is one of the most important issues facing Texas, and all of our state's leaders have labeled it as a top priority," said Representative Johnson. "I am pleased that Speaker Straus had the confidence in me to appoint me as a key player in this vital effort to ensure that Texas has an ample water supply for generations to come."
Representative Johnson was also appointed as a member of the Elections Committee, which will enable him to pursue directly the legislation he has filed aimed at increasing voter participation.
In addition to these three committees, Representative Johnson was also appointed to the newly formed Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations. The Committee is charged with overseeing transparency in the reporting of financial transactions and monitoring the hiring and compensation practices of judicial and executive state agencies and affiliated entities.
"Speaker Straus was wise to create a new committee focused on governmental transparency at the agency level, especially in light of the recent CPRIT audit," Representative Johnson said. "I am honored that he chose me to serve on it, and I will work diligently in my capacity as a member of this new committee to ensure that state money is spent to serve the interests of Texans, rather than line the pockets of the well-connected ."
