Rep. Simmons Committee Assignments: Elections, Homeland Security and Public Safety
AUSTIN - The 83rd Legislature took another step in its biennial process today with the assignment of committees. Rep. Simmons received placement to the House Committee on Elections and the Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety.
"I am very pleased to receive my committee assignments. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Elections Committee to protect the integrity of the electoral process," said Rep. Simmons.
"As a member of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, it is my goal to ensure that Texas citizens can live in safe and secure communities," added Rep. Simmons. "These two committees cover areas that are of vital importance to House District 65 and to the entire state of Texas."
Elections is chaired by Geanie Morrison (Victoria) and Homeland Security and Public Safety is chaired by Rep. Joe Pickett (El Paso).
Serving in his first term, Rep. Ron Simmons represents House District 65 in southeast Denton County, including parts of Lewisville, Carrollton, Hebron, North Dallas, and Highland Village.
Rep. Simmons is the son of two Arkansas public school teachers. He and his wife of 31 years, Lisa, have three children, Justin, Daniel, and Allie Beth, and one grandchild, Peter. Rep. Simmons is a distinguished alumnus of Dallas Baptist University, the co-founder of Retirement Advisors of America (RAA), and a member of the National Board of Directors for the Autism Society of America. He and Lisa are active members of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
