REP. SIMMONS READY FOR CHALLENGES OF 83rd SESSION
AUSTIN - Yesterday, Rep. Ron Simmons was officially sworn in as a Member of the 83rd Legislature in Austin. "January 8, 2013 will obviously be a date my family and I will never forget," stated Rep. Simmons. "It was such an honor to be sworn in as the State Representative for House District 65." During the ceremony, Rep. Simmons found himself reflecting back nine generations to his grandfather who served in the North Carolina House of Burgess in 1677. "While times have changed, I imagined my ancestor felt the same things as I do today, a sense of excitement, honor, duty and appreciation." The Representative also is thankful to his family and to the people of his district that entrusted him with this responsibility, which he has sworn to perform to the best of his ability.
"Now that the ceremony is behind us," stated Rep. Simmons, "we here at the Texas House need to start the work for the people." Rep. Simmons maintains his position to resist the calls by some for larger government, more spending, and continued intrusion into the lives of citizens. "I am honored to be joined by a rock solid group of conservative freshman legislators as well as the quality group of conservative members in both the House and Senate," concluded Rep. Simmons.
Rep. Simmons assures his constituents that he will fight for the causes that have been discussed for the last 13 months. He is comforted sharing these same beliefs and knowing he will be supported in these important legislative battles as he works for the conservative agenda in the committee meetings, on the House floor, and in the halls of the Capitol.
