Frullo Highlights Constitution Day
LUBBOCK- State Representative John Frullo (Lubbock) wants to remind everyone that September 17th is Constitution Day. Signed by our Founding Fathers on September 17, 1787, this year marks the 225th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. This important document established the framework of our government, as well as the rights and freedoms that "We the People" enjoy today.
First observed in 2004 in the nation as a whole, Constitution Day serves as a day to remember not only the governing document of our nation, but also reflect on how special the grand experiment conducted by our Founding Fathers actually was.
"There was no precedent for what the Founding Fathers created," said Frullo. "They relied on wisdom from above and a deep sense of conviction that all men are created equal. They also demonstrated tremendous leadership and perseverance knowing this document would be the bedrock of a free people."
In honor of Constitution Day, Representative Frullo encourages students and teachers to utilize some great resources available through the National Constitution Center and the State Bar of Texas Law-Related Education (LRE) program. These resources include an educational web-based video series and a personal pocket constitution app for your iPhone available for download. You can find this information and more by visiting www.constitutioncenter.org or www.texaslre.org.
