Representative Flynn Joins Effort to Combat Underage Drinking with $10,000 Poster Contest
Texas High School Seniors Vie for $10,000 in Educational Scholarships
AUSTIN, TX— State Representative Dan Flynn is teaming up with the Texas Hospitality Association (THA) to fight underage drinking and to promote alcohol responsibility through a statewide poster contest that will award four 2012 high school graduating seniors $10,000 in educational scholarships.
THA will award a $5,000 scholarship to the Texas high school senior who designs and submits the best poster conveying the message or theme: "If you are under 21, it's illegal to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages in Texas." A $2,500 scholarship will go to the runner up, $1,500 to 3rd and $1,000 to the 4th best poster. The winning posters will be used in a statewide campaign to promote alcohol responsibility in Texas.
"We are very excited about involving Texas high school seniors in developing a message that will combat underage drinking in their age group and reminds all Texans of the need for alcohol awareness," said Rep. Flynn.
The contest is open to all 2012 Texas high school seniors. Artwork must be an original design and may be computer or electronically generated, hand drawn or photographed.
Students have until May 4 to submit their poster to THA.
