Texas First Foundation Announces Student Scholarship Opportunity
AUSTIN, TX— The Texas First Foundation's Student Fellowship Program is a unique opportunity for high school and college students across Texas to weigh in on important policy decisions facing our state, earn publication of their ideas to a wide audience of policy-minded Texans and lawmakers, and win a $250 scholarship.
The Texas First Foundation is a 501 (c )(4) nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting an open and honest political dialogue in the State of Texas and advocating for practical public policies that put Texans first.
Students are invited to submit an essay on any policy issue they believe important to Texans. Selected essays will be published by Texas First Foundation to an audience of several thousand policy minded Texans, including all state legislators. In addition, the top ten essays from both high school students and college students will receive awards of $250 each.
This program is a great way to engage young people substantively in Texas policy debates, infusing fresh voices and ideas and a unique perspective into some of Texas' most pressing issues. Publication is also a great way for students to build their resumes and college and graduate school applications.
Representative Flynn stated, "The Student Fellowship Program offered by the Texas First Foundation is a wonderful way for students to broaden their knowledge on policy issues while having their opinions be heard. I encourage all students to take advantage of this amazing opportunity and I applaud the Texas First Foundation for calling students to take part in such an educational experience."
The Spring 2012 admission deadline is April 30. For more details, visit: http://www.texasfirstfoundation.com/about/student-fellowship-program/.
