SPEAKER JOE STRAUS APPOINTS HOUSE MEMBERS TO THE PARTNERSHIP ADVISORY COMMISSION
AUSTIN--- Today, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus (San Antonio) announced House appointments to the Partnership Advisory Commission. Speaker Straus has appointed Representatives Dee Margo (El Paso), Armando "Mando" Martinez (Weslaco), and Jim Murphy (Houston). Representative Jim Pitts (Waxahachie), as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, is an ex-officio member of the commission.
"I am pleased to appoint these House members to this new commission focused on increasing transparency and accountability involving public-private partnership projects," Speaker Straus said.
The Partnership Advisory Commission was created by Senate Bill 1048 which was enacted during the Regular Session of the 82nd Legislature. SB 1048 allows governmental entities to enter into comprehensive agreements, and the commission will provide oversight and review on qualifying public-private partnership projects. Governmental entities defined in SB 1048 are a state board, commission, agency, and higher education institutions.
