Rep. Thompson Applauds the Actions of the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence
AUSTIN, TX--- In response to the actions of the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence, Representative Senfronia Thompson (Houston) released the following statement:
"Yesterday, the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence voted on and passed out House Bills 2014, 2015, and 3000 to continue keeping Texas at the forefront of combating human trafficking. These bills will work to protect our youngest and most innocent of victims as well as create the new offense of "continuous human trafficking" to specifically target the worst offenders of this crime. Chairman Jackson and the members of this committee truly understand that Texas must move beyond all the talk and work towards much needed solutions. I will continue to work with my colleagues on legislation to ensure that we continue to move Texas forward in the fight against this atrocious crime of modern day slavery."
