House Representative

Martinez, Armando "Mando"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 01/15/2011

REPRESENTATIVE ARMANDO "MANDO" MARTINEZ SWORN IN FOR FOURTH TERM

AUSTIN - The 82nd Legislative Session has begun and I am proud to have been sworn into office alongside my family. As we begin a new legislative session in Austin, I would like to rededicate myself to keeping you informed on the inner-workings of the legislative process. Further, I would like to remind you that my office is always open; I hope you take advantage of this offer so that I can make sure all of your interests are properly addressed.

It is a great honor and privilege to serve as your State Representative for House District 39. I will do everything within my power to be a strong and effective advocate for the people who have so generously placed their trust in me.

Over the next months, the Legislature will address critical issues that will, directly or indirectly, affect you, your family, your community, your school, your environment, your pocketbook, your children and your future. I hope the Legislature will take this opportunity to make significant progress on the following issues:
• The establishment of a University of Texas law school in the Rio Grande Valley
• The increase in salary of certain professional employees of public schools
• The cost of living increase applicable to benefits paid by Teacher Retirement System of Texas
• Creating a literacy center to assist individuals with progressing in their education
