(Austin, TX) – The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and many local law enforcement agencies will hold a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at many locations on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The goal of this ongoing collaborative effort with local law enforcement agencies is to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets by giving an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction.

The following locations will be available in House District 19:
• Jasper Police Department - 555 S Main Street. Jasper, Texas 75951
• Lumberton Police Department -120 East Chance Rd #A, Lumberton, Texas 77657
• Silsbee Police Department - 1104 North 5th Street, Silsbee, Texas 77656

"I have the honor of serving on the House Select Committee on Opioids and Substance Abuse and have been hearing testimony on the lives impacted by the abuse of prescription drugs. Doctors prescribe medicine for the benefit of our health but when these substances are stolen, lost, sold, or misused it creates a terrible impact on our communities. Southeast Texas communities have been working hard to get these substances off our streets. I applaud the DEA and our local law enforcement for participating in this event and prioritizing our physical and mental well-being," said State Representative James White.
