AUSTIN, TX – Today, the Texas House of Representatives adjourned Sine Die for the 84th Legislative Session. Representative Guerra along with the rest of the Valley delegation worked tirelessly these past 140 days, having successfully passed numerous pieces of legislation for their respective districts as well as important policy that will positively affect the state of Texas.

“The House had many legislative victories this year, successfully passing: a responsible state budget, promoting job creation, more transparency in government agencies, and securing healthcare funding for South Texas. These were among the top legislative priorities the house collectively worked on during session,” said Rep. Guerra.

Regarding House Bill 1, this year’s budget increased our efforts to successfully implement tax cuts for our small business owners into law. Next session, we’ll pick up right where we left off and finish the good work we started.”

During the 84th legislative session, Rep. Guerra passed landmark legislation that will continue to have a positive effect for the next two years. His work on healthcare, education, improving of small business practices, to secure funding for transportation, border security, and produce trade at our ports of entry, Rep. Guerra tirelessly worked hard for his constituents in District 41.

Most recently, Governor Greg Abbott signed into law Rep. Guerra’s passage of Senate bill 797, the companion to House Bill 979, Border Agricultural Inspection Grant Program, which will allow the Texas Department of Agriculture a grant to a local nonprofit, increasing federal customs & border protection officers with Ag inspectors at the ports of entry on the border. This law will significantly shorten wait times for a product whose shelf life demands that every hour count and is important to the Valley and the Texas economy.
