Walle to Serve on Business & Industry, Land & Resource Management, and Select Federalism & Fiscal Responsibility Committees
AUSTIN -- State Representative Armando Walle (Houston) was recently appointed by House Speaker Joe Straus to serve as Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Land and Resource Management and as a member of the House Committee on Business and Industry and the House Select Committee on Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility.
"I am looking forward to serving on the Business & Industry, Land & Resource Management, and Select Federalism & Fiscal Responsibility Committees," said Rep. Walle. "These committee assignments give me the opportunity to work closely on critical issues that affect our families and our community."
"Representative Walle's committee assignments will allow him to work on a number of priorities that are critical to the well-being of his district and the success of the Texas economy," said Speaker Straus.
The House Select Committee on Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility is charged with monitoring the federal government, federal legislation and federal regulations that require states to take certain actions, and federal sequestration and its impacts on our state.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Select Committee on Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility on encouraging implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), as the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled on its constitutionality,” said Rep. Walle. “Implementation of the PPACA will help bring health insurance coverage to the one-quarter of Texans who are currently without health care.”
The House Committee on Business and Industry oversees the general operations, management, and administration of businesses and industries in Texas, and has authority over matters relating to consumer protection and state agencies associated with risk management, worker's compensation, and mutual insurance.
"As a member of the Business and Industry Committee, I am eager to help ensure that our workers, small businesses, and customers are protected and supported as they continue to build our communities and grow our economy," said Rep. Walle.
The House Committee on Land and Resource Management has jurisdiction over the management of public lands, the power of eminent domain, and the annexation, zoning, and governmental regulation of land use.
"As the population in Texas continues to rise, effectively managing the use of our land is becoming even more crucial," said Rep. Walle. "I look forward to strengthening our ability to meet the demands of a growing state."
Rep. Armando Walle is serving his third term in the Texas House of Representatives and serves as Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Land & Resource Management and as a member of the House Committee on Business and Industry and the House Select Committee on Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility. He represents House District 140, which includes northern portions of unincorporated Harris County and the City of Houston.
